Optical Design Engineer

Job Description:

• Design and develop precision optical systems for vision-based applications

• Develop and optimise illumination systems for imaging and inspection solutions

• Perform optical simulations and ray-tracing analysis using specialised software (e.g. Zemax)

• Conduct optical testing and evaluate system performance using appropriate methodologies

• Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and design specifications

• Stay updated on advancements in optics, photonics, and illumination technologies to drive innovation

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing) to integrate optical systems into products

Requirements:

• Degree / Master's / PhD in Physics, Optics, or a related discipline

• Minimum 2 years of experience in optical design and optical systems development

• Strong knowledge of optical principles and related mechanical design

• Hands-on experience with optical testing and performance evaluation methods

• Proficient in optical design software (e.g. Zemax)

• Good understanding of chromatic aberration, MTF, and precision measurement techniques

• Experience in lighting/illumination system design and simulation is an advantage
