Role Overview::

We are seeking an experienced Ops DBA Engineer to join our operations team on a 6-month contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and performance optimization of mission-critical database environments across multiple platforms. This role requires strong operational support experience, expertise in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server technologies, and familiarity with cloud-hosted database services such as AWS RDS.

The ideal candidate should possess a proactive approach to database operations, ensuring high availability, reliability, and compliance with enterprise security and ITSM standards.

Key Responsibilities::

• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise database platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), and MySQL.
• Manage and support Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Hardware Security Module (HSM) integrations to ensure database security and compliance.
• Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and availability, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact business operations.
• Perform and validate database backup and recovery procedures using tools such as Oracle RMAN, and participate in disaster recovery planning and testing activities.
• Install, configure, and apply database patches, upgrades, and security fixes in accordance with organizational change management policies.
• Manage database users, roles, privileges, and access controls while ensuring adherence to security and audit requirements.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and configuration enhancements to improve overall system efficiency.
• Support application and development teams with database-related troubleshooting, schema modifications, release deployments, and production issue resolution.
• Maintain accurate database documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
• Respond to and resolve database incidents, service requests, and problem tickets within defined SLA timelines.
• Participate in on-call support and collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to maintain stable production environments.

Mandatory Skills & Experience::

• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) in a production support or operations environment.
• Strong expertise in:
• Oracle Database, including Oracle RAC and RMAN backup/recovery
• Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)
• AWS RDS
• Experience with Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Hardware Security Module (HSM).
• Hands-on experience with MySQL administration and support.
• Proven expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
• Strong understanding of database backup, restoration, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience managing database security, user access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with ITSM processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and provide effective operational support in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills::

• Database certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft SQL Server certifications (MCSA/DBA track).
• Experience administering cloud-hosted databases, including AWS RDS and Amazon Aurora.
• Scripting and automation experience using SQL, Shell Scripting, or Python.
• Exposure to enterprise monitoring and automation tools for database operations.
