Job Description

Role Summary

The Operations Manager supports the factory's day-to-day production activities, ensuring smooth operations, efficiency, and compliance with quality standards. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to execute production plans, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Manager ensures that manpower, equipment, and processes are aligned to meet production targets, delivery timelines, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties

Production & Operations

  • Execute production plans and monitor daily factory activities to ensure targets are met (output, quality, cost, OTIF).
  • Support capacity planning, production scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor actual vs planned output and implement corrective actions to maintain productivity levels.
  • Oversee production processes from raw materials to finished goods to ensure efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Ensure proper execution of SOPs, quality controls, and compliance with safety standards.

People & Team Management

  • Supervise production supervisors/leads and operational teams.
  • Provide coaching to staff, ensure adequate manpower planning and shift allocation.
  • Support succession planning, capability building, and staff development.

Process Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and productivity tools.
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities; propose solutions and execute approved plans.
  • Support initiatives to reduce waste, improve production yield, and optimize machine utilization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Engineering, QA, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues and support production requirements.
  • Coordinate with business units for production needs, timelines, and reporting.

Reporting & Controls

  • Track and report key performance metrics (productivity, yield, waste, downtime, OTIF).
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and records.
  • Support budget compliance by managing resources efficiently and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

General

  • Conduct routine production floor reviews to assess performance and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Prepare production forecasts/updates and support planning for future capacity and resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing/Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in FMCG or related industry.
  • Experience supervising production teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and safety standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing / Six-Sigma (certification is an advantage).
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with production systems is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and able to lead teams through operational challenges.
