Operations Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Operations Manager to lead the sales, profitability, and operational performance of a cluster of retail stores. This role is responsible for delivering outstanding customer experiences, driving business growth, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring operational excellence across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Sales & Business Performance

• Create an engaging, customer-focused shopping environment that is easy to navigate and aligned with shopper needs.
• Execute effective store layouts, merchandising strategies, and promotional activities to maximize sales opportunities.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure product availability through effective stock management practices.
• Analyze sales trends and performance data to identify opportunities and provide recommendations to improve commercial results.
• Regularly assess market trends and competitor activities to maintain a strong competitive position.

Manage Costs & Operational Efficiency

• Optimize inventory levels to achieve healthy stock turns and reduce excess inventory.
• Implement measures to minimize shrinkage, theft, and operational losses.
• Drive productivity through effective workforce planning, staff deployment, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure store operating expenses are managed within approved budgets and forecasts.

Lead Growth & Development

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support store expansion opportunities, including site selection and new store openings.
• Leverage technology and operational improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer experience.
• Foster a strong service culture by ensuring teams consistently deliver excellent customer service.
• Develop and mentor Area Managers and Store Managers through coaching, training, and leadership development initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with workplace health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a safe working environment through regular training and adherence to emergency procedures.

Requirements

• Degree holder with a minimum of 6 years retail experience, including at least 3 years in a management capacity overseeing store operations.
• Strong understanding of the local retail landscape and customer behaviors.
• Proven ability to solve business challenges and drive operational improvements.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze data and translate insights into action plans.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to develop, motivate, and lead management teams to achieve business objectives.
• Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels and communicate operational and commercial information effectively.
