Job Summary
- The Bunker Operations Executive is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of marine fuel (bunker) deliveries to vessels. The role involves liaising with vessel owners, charterers, suppliers, bunker traders, bunker craft operators, terminals, and relevant authorities to ensure safe, efficient, timely, and compliant bunker operations.
- The successful candidate should have strong coordination and communication skills, good knowledge of shipping and bunker operations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Have to be efficient in Bunker Tanker Fleet Planning
- Coordinate bunker delivery operations from nomination through completion.
- Liaise with vessel agents, Masters, Chief Engineers, suppliers, bunker craft operators, terminals, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor vessel schedules, ETAs, berthing arrangements, and bunker delivery requirements.
- Arrange and coordinate bunker craft, delivery locations, and operational schedules.
- Ensure bunker deliveries are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
- Monitor bunker delivery operations and promptly address operational delays, changes, or discrepancies.
- Review bunker delivery documents, including bunker delivery notes (BDNs), quantity figures, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers and surveyors for quantity and quality inspections when required.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and documentation.
- Follow up on bunker samples, certificates, documentation, and other post-delivery requirements.
- Assist in investigating bunker quantity or quality discrepancies and coordinate resolution with relevant parties.
- Ensure compliance with applicable maritime, environmental, safety, and company requirements.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, vessel operators, and service providers.
- Provide operational support to the commercial/trading team as required.
- Perform other duties related to bunker operations as assigned.
- Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in bunker operations, ship operations, marine logistics, shipping, or a related maritime environment.
- Knowledge of marine fuels, bunker delivery procedures, and shipping operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with bunker documentation, BDNs, bunker surveys, and quantity/quality measurement is an advantage.
- Good understanding of maritime safety and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple operations simultaneously.
- Good attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational/ERP systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, when required by vessel operations.
