As part of our team, you will help deliver seamless IT experiences and support to employees at Sea by providing responsive helpdesk service, stable networks and reliable IT systems.
As an Operations Engineer in the System Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and reliability of Sea's corporate server and infrastructure platforms across our regional offices. The role focuses on system operations, patching, monitoring, backup and recovery, incident resolution, and operational automation.
Job Description:
- Operate and maintain corporate server infrastructure across multiple countries, including virtualisation platforms, Windows and Linux systems, and associated services.
- Plan and execute operating system, firmware and infrastructure patching, including testing, rollback planning and compliance tracking.
- Manage infrastructure monitoring and alerting to ensure effective coverage, timely response and resolution of identified issues.
- Manage backup operations and recoverability, including backup verification, scheduled restore testing and recovery checks.
- Administer virtualisation platforms, including host lifecycle, capacity management, VM provisioning, inventory management and platform migrations.
- Provide operational support for Active Directory and related identity services, including directory changes, migrations and regional cutovers led by the Engineering team.
- Investigate and resolve incidents and recurring system issues, working with internal teams and vendors where required.
- Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Bash or Python to automate recurring operational tasks such as patching, provisioning, reporting and system checks.
- Maintain accurate runbooks, system documentation, operational procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Identify and implement agreed improvements to systems, tooling and operational processes.
- Participate in scheduled out-of-hours maintenance and the team's on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience operating production server infrastructure in a similar role.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox VE, VMware vSphere and vCenter, or equivalent.
- Practical experience with patch management and infrastructure monitoring across a server estate.
- Experience administering Windows Server and supporting enterprise Active Directory environments.
- Linux administration experience, including packages, services, storage and troubleshooting, is highly advantageous.
- Scripting capability in PowerShell, Bash or Python for operational automation.
- Experience with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam is advantageous.
- Microsoft, virtualisation or Linux certifications are advantageous.
- Comfortable supporting infrastructure across multiple countries and time zones, including scheduled out-of-hours work and on-call support.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with regional IT teams, users and vendors.
