The Role
As an Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance and availability of the Reactive Markets trading platform. This is a hands-on, technical operations role, focused on production systems, infrastructure and trading workflows as an alternative to direct client relationship management.
You will work closely with Engineering, Product and internal stakeholders, acting as the first line of defence for live trading systems. While the role involves supporting client onboarding and integrations, the emphasis is on technical delivery, system correctness and incident response, not sales or account management.
This role is well suited to someone with some experience in trading or FinTech operations who enjoys working close to production systems, solving complex problems and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations & Monitoring
- Monitor live trading systems across multiple regions, venues and asset classes.
- Triage, investigate and resolve production issues impacting trading, market data or connectivity.
- Respond to alerts and operational events during trading hours and participate in incident response.
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of system topology, trading workflows and operational processes
- Partner closely with Engineering to support releases, changes and platform enhancements while maintaining stability.
Client Onboarding & Technical Support
- Act as a technical point of contact during onboarding, ensuring client services have sufficient information to be able to manage clients effectively.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver integrations smoothly.
FIX Integrations & Connectivity
- Support FIX API deployments for clients, liquidity providers and partners.
- Configure and maintain FIX sessions, connectivity and post-trade workflows.
- Monitor and validate FIX message flows, identifying issues related to execution, routing or market data.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for configurations, onboarding steps and troubleshooting.
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term fixes and preventative improvements.
- Help develop operational tooling, automation, and runbooks to improve efficiency and resilience.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years experience in operations or production support within trading or FinTech.
- Working knowledge of the FIX protocol, ideally in FX or electronic trading environments.
- Understanding of trading infrastructure, networking and low-latency connectivity.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools in live production environments.
- Some scripting or automation experience (e.g. bash, python) is a plus but not a prerequisite..
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset suited to a growing, globally distributed team.
