Occupational Therapy Aide

Role Description The Occupational Therapy Aide is a full-time, on-site role based at Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens in Singapore. This role supports occupational therapists in carrying out rehabilitation programs, including preparing therapy areas, setting up equipment, and assisting residents with prescribed exercises and activities of daily living. The aide helps to guide residents through therapy sessions, encourages participation in therapeutic and recreational activities, and monitors basic responses and progress under professional supervision. Daily tasks include maintaining a safe and clean environment, recording simple observations, supporting patient care routines, and collaborating with nursing and therapy staff to enhance residents independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to interact clearly, respectfully, and compassionately with seniors, families, and multidisciplinary staff.
• Foundational knowledge or experience in occupational therapy, including assisting with therapeutic activities and activities of daily living.
• Exposure to or understanding of physical therapy and rehabilitation principles, especially in eldercare or long-term care settings.
• Commitment to person-centered patient care, with the ability to provide safe, dignified, and supportive assistance to residents.
• Relevant certification or training in therapy support, healthcare assistance, or eldercare is an advantage.
• Ability to follow clinical instructions, maintain basic documentation, and uphold infection control and safety standards.
• Resilience and empathy when working with frail seniors, including those with cognitive or physical impairments.
