1. JOB SUMMARY
1.1. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and client-centred Occupational Therapy services aimed at restoring functional abilities and promoting optimal independence. Through the application of evidence-based techniques, the role supports clients in reintegrating into the community and improving their quality of life.
1.2. The role also involves training and supporting caregivers, volunteers, and other stakeholders, as well as overseeing equipment maintenance and contributing to programme coordination.
REQUIREMENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.1. Clinical Duties
1.1.1. Manage a clinical caseload, including assessment, treatment, review, and documentation.
1.1.2. Maintain high standards and professional Occupational Therapy services (centre-based, home-based and residential care) for the assigned caseloads.
1.1.3. Promote, design and oversee day care activities
1.1.4. Plan and lead group therapy sessions and community reintegration activities.
1.1.5. Implement new and innovative clinical programs to progress the profession and benefit the community.
1.1.6. Conduct periodic reviews based on schedule or significant changes in condition.
1.1.7. Deliver caregiver training and education to support continuity of care at home.
1.1.8. Perform home assessments and recommend necessary modifications for safety and function.
1.1.9. Prescribe assistive devices and aids to promote independence.
1.1.10. Communicate and collaborate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
1.1.11. Provide clinical coverage and supervise subordinates to ensure safety and professionalism in treatment delivery.
1.1.12. Ensure client re-certification is carried out on time, with clinical documentation up to audit standards.
1.2. Administrative and Operational Duties
1.2.1. Maintain timely and accurate documentation, and monitor and submit daily and monthly treatment statistics.
1.2.2. Ensure proper equipment use, report faults, and support inventory management.
1.2.3. Ensure adherence to Workplace Safety and Health(WSH) policies and infection control protocols.
1.2.4. Support audit processes by conducting in-house competency, environment, and quality audits.
1.2.5. Develop and manage therapy schedules and rosters.
1.2.6. Support the safe and efficient operation of the Occupational Therapy section.
1.2.7. Ensure client safety during therapy and take responsibility for tasks delegated to healthcare and rehab support staff.
1.2.8. Raise application forms (eSMF, EASE) to support equipment procurement.
1.2.9. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Senior Therapists.
1.3. Education and Training
1.3.1. Conduct in-service training, lectures, and clinical education for staff after attending the external courses.
1.3.2. Educate caregivers or public on rehabilitation care strategies.
1.3.3. Stay updated on emerging treatment techniques, therapy equipment, and clinical trends.
1.4. Service Development and Supervision
1.4.1. Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to developing clinical guidelines or protocols.
1.4.2. Recommend and assist with implementing innovations or improvements in therapy service delivery.
1.4.3. Supervise care team to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and care.
1.4.4. Oversee the work of care team, taking accountability for tasks delegated to them.
