Job Description

The Winslow is a private residential addiction treatment centre dedicated to delivering compassionate and personalised care to people experiencing substance use and/or behavioural addictions, including co‑occurring mental health conditions.

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and clinical governance of nursing services in The Winslow. This includes ensuring safe, compliant, and client-centered care for individuals with substance use and other addiction disorders, in accordance with Singapore regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

A. Nursing Leadership & Client Care

  • Oversee delivery of nursing care for clients with substance use and other addiction disorders (e.g., alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines).
  • Ensure safe tracking and administration of medications, including controlled drugs in compliance with the Misuse of Drugs Act Singapore.
  • Monitor clients for withdrawal symptoms, relapse risks, and co-morbid psychiatric/medical conditions.
  • Support implementation of evidence-based practices (e.g., relapse prevention strategies).
  • Participate in emergency response (e.g., overdose, acute withdrawal, psychiatric crisis).

B. Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with the Healthcare Services Act Singapore for outpatient medical services.
  • Maintain readiness for audits by MOH and other authorities.
  • Oversee clinical documentation standards, incident reporting and management, infection prevention and control, and medication management and storage (including controlled drugs registers).
  • Implement and monitor SOPs aligned with national guidelines.

C. Staff Management & Development

  • Supervise and manage nursing staff.
  • Conduct staff scheduling and manpower planning, performance appraisals, training, and competency assessments (e.g.,POCT, AED, BCLS).
  • Foster a supportive, recovery-oriented care culture.

D. Quality Assurance &Improvement

  • Develop and maintain quality improvement programs (e.g., audit cycles, KPI monitoring).
  • Lead internal audits (e.g., medication, infection control, documentation).

E. Operational Management

  • Oversee daily clinic operations and client flow.
  • Ensure adequate stock and proper storage of medications (including controlled substances), medical supplies and equipment.
  • Manage vendor coordination (e.g., labs, pharmacy suppliers).

F. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, recovery coaches, and other allied health professionals and treatment providers
  • Participate in case discussions and care planning.

G. Client Education & Advocacy

  • Psycho-educate clients and families (if applicable) on addiction recovery, medication adherence, harm reduction strategies, medication process, indications, compliance, and side effects.
  • Promote stigma-free, client-centered care.

Requirements

A. Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with valid registration under the Singapore Nursing Board
  • At least a Bachelor of Nursing
  • Post-basic certification in mental health nursing (preferred)
  • BCLS and AED certified

B. Experience

  • Minimum 5-8 years of nursing experience
  • At least 2-3 years in supervisory/managerial role
  • Experience in addiction nursing / psychiatric nursing (preferred)

C. Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment and withdrawal management
  • Familiarity with Singapore healthcare regulations and licensing requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Crisis management and decision-making ability
