Job Description

Catholic Welfare Services, Singapore (CWS) is a non-profit social service agency and the primary social mission action arm of the Catholic Church in Singapore. Over decades, CWS has evolved into a full-fledged social service organisation serving over 1,500 beneficiaries of all races and religions across the island. Beyond homeless outreach, the charity manages multiple nursing homes, elderly sheltered residences, youth programs, and financial assistance bursaries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee night operations at Gift of Joy (GOJ) Shelter and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly shelter environment and ensure adherence to shelter rules and routines.
  • Attend to residents needs and manage or de-escalate conflicts and disturbances where necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies, safety concerns and incidents at GOJ and escalate appropriately.
  • Conduct regular checks of the shelter premises and report safety, security or facility-related issues
  • Monitor live CCTV feeds of designated common areas at Bethlehem and MSF shelters for unusual or concerning occurrences.
  • Manage the designated night phone and attend to calls from Bethlehem and MSF shelters, escalating matters to the appropriate staff or emergency services where necessary.
  • Report and escalate incidents observed through CCTV to the appropriate staff, Police or SCDF depending on the nature and severity of the situation.
  • Perform other shelter-related duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer.
  • Working Hours and Days: Thursdays to Sundays, 8 pm to 8am (4 nights a week, 12 hours each night with 1 hour break)

Job Requirements:

  • Able to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
  • Good observational and situational awareness skills.
  • Able to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies or conflicts.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Qualification

  • Minimum GCE N/O Level, NITEC/Higher NITEC or equivalent.
  • A valid Security Officer licence would be advantageous.
  • First Aid, CPR/AED or Fire Safety certification would be advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of safety, security and emergency response procedures.

Years of Relevant Experiences

  • Preferably at least 1 year of relevant working experience in security, operations, residential facilities, or other related roles.
  • Experience working independently on night shifts would be advantageous.
