Responsibilities
- Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of Fortinet appliances including Forti Proxy, Forti Manager, and Forti Analyzer to ensure robust proxy infrastructure performance.
- Manage and maintain open-source proxy solutions such as Squid and HA Proxy within RedHat Linux environments to support network operations.
- Develop, code, and implement proxy security policies, URL categorization, and SSL inspection policies to enforce secure web access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve proxy-related technical incidents at Level 2 and 3, addressing application-specific web connectivity and user web surfing issues to maintain service continuity.
- Manage technology lifecycle by performing software upgrades, evaluating Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), and implementing mitigation strategies to safeguard systems.
- Track and manage End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Service-Life (EOSL) hardware and software components, coordinating timely replacements and upgrades to maintain system integrity.
- Design, code, test, and deploy Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) files to optimize web traffic routing and enhance network architecture performance.
- Lead automation initiatives in collaboration with developers to improve productivity and enhance user experience through streamlined proxy operations.
- Engage with users and business units to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure alignment with organizational needs.
- Lead and manage projects and Business-As-Usual (BAU) initiatives, coordinating stakeholders, vendors, design, deliverables, and timelines to achieve successful outcomes.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, design documentation, procedural manuals, and operations metrics to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
- Establish and maintain security baselines and conduct health checks to ensure proxy infrastructure compliance and resilience.
Required competencies and certifications
- Solid understanding of web proxy technologies including Fortinet Forti Proxy, Squid Proxy, Bluecoat Proxy, and McAfee Proxy.
- Strong knowledge of proxy technologies, network security, secure communication protocols (SSL/TLS), and authentication protocols such as Kerberos, NTLM, LDAP, and SAML.
- Proficiency with Firewalls, DNS, GTM, Load Balancers, Linux system commands, and VI editor.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in proxy operations and administration within network/infrastructure teams.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate and lead.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to perform scheduled production change implementations during late nights and weekends as required by change windows.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
- Certifications such as CCNA, Firewall Certification (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE), or Proxy Certifications.
