Job Description

The Network Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's network infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership, manages network reliability and performance, and ensures secure, scalable, and high-quality connectivity across all sites. The Network Lead works closely with cross-functional teams, manages network engineers or support resources, and acts as a key escalation point for complex network issues.

Key Responsibilities

Network Strategy & Architecture

• Lead the planning, design, and development of network architecture (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, Datacenter networking).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements or upgrades to support business needs.
• Establish standards for network operations, configuration, and security.

Network Operations Management

• Oversee daily network operations and ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of all network systems.
• Monitor network health, troubleshoot outages and performance issues, and ensure rapid incident resolution.
• Coordinate and execute network upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain network security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, segmentation).
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce best practices and compliance standards.
• Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness of all network configurations and procedures.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor network engineers and support technicians.
• Manage workload distribution, provide guidance, and conduct performance reviews.
• Work closely with IT leadership, cloud teams, and third-party vendors to deliver integrated solutions.

Projects & Vendor Management

• Oversee and deliver network-related projects on time and within budget.
• Manage relationships with service providers, hardware vendors, and consultants.
• Participate in RFP processes and evaluate vendor proposals.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and operational documentation.
• Provide regular reports on network performance, capacity planning, and incident statistics.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 510+ years of experience in network engineering or administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.)
• Firewall and security systems (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower)
• WLAN technologies (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki)
• SD-WAN solutions
• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, etc.)
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, QoS, VPNs.
• Certifications preferred: CCNP/CCDP, JNCIP, PCNSE, NSE4+, or equivalent.
