Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a high-performing technology team within a leading hedge fund environment. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing low-latency, highly available network infrastructure across enterprise and trading environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in enterprise networking, data center operations, network security, and troubleshooting within mission-critical environments. Experience supporting financial services, trading platforms, or latency-sensitive infrastructure will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise and trading network infrastructure across regional offices and data centers.
- Manage and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WiFi, VPN, Internet, and cloud connectivity environments.
- Support low-latency and high-availability network infrastructure for trading and business operations.
- Configure and maintain core networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance, capacity, availability, and security to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
- Perform network incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for critical production issues.
- Manage relationships with telecom providers, ISPs, and third-party vendors.
- Support infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, migrations, office expansions, and cloud integration initiatives.
- Ensure network environments comply with security, governance, and operational standards.
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, SOPs, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise or financial services environments.
- Strong experience with:
- Cisco routing and switching
- Palo Alto / Fortinet / Check Point firewalls
- BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, TCP/IP, QoS
- VPN, DNS, DHCP, NAT
- Data center and WAN technologies
- Experience supporting mission-critical or low-latency environments preferred.
- Exposure to cloud networking technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Knowledge of network security best practices and segmentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a strong ownership mindset.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a hedge fund, banking, trading, or financial services environment.
- Experience supporting market connectivity, trading infrastructure, or colocation environments.
- Exposure to automation or scripting (Python, PowerShell, Ansible) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, NSE, or equivalent are advantageous.
