This role is for a skilled music composer to revise and update select sections of an existing operatic musical score for an unproduced stage play. The project involves working with MusicScore Studio 4 files to make targeted cuts and compose new music that aligns with recent script revisions. The original composer is unavailable, so you will be responsible for adapting the score to fit the updated narrative, ensuring stylistic consistency with the existing operatic tone. Reference materials, including the current score and audio for the Prelude (Who Was Thea), will be provided to guide your work. The revisions are to be completed before the end of the year, with the possibility of future collaboration if the project progresses.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze the provided MusicScore Studio 4 files and audio examples to understand the current musical structure and style.
- Collaborate with the author to identify specific sections of the score requiring cuts, updates, or new compositions.
- Compose new music and revise existing sections to match script changes, maintaining the operatic style throughout.
- Ensure all revisions are accurately notated in MusicScore Studio 4 and compatible with the provided materials.
- Deliver updated score files and, if possible, audio mockups for review and feedback.
- Meet project deadlines and communicate progress regularly.
Skills And Requirements
- Proven experience as a music composer, preferably with a background in operatic or classical musical theatre.
- Proficiency with MusicScore Studio 4 or similar notation software.
- Strong ability to adapt and revise existing musical material while preserving stylistic integrity.
- Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results within set timelines.
- Availability to complete the project before the end of the year.
