Job Summary
You will guide children aged 18 months to 6 years in a prepared, child-centered Montessori environment, facilitating self-directed learning and fostering independence as a supportive guide.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate self-directed learning and independence for children aged 18 months to 6 years by guiding rather than instructing in a Montessori setting
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing classroom that encourages exploration and complies with safety and hygiene standards
- Observe children actively to identify individual needs and interests, and maintain detailed developmental records and portfolios for each child
- Use respectful redirection and guidance to promote internal self-discipline and emotional intelligence without relying on rewards or punishments
- Build strong partnerships with parents through regular updates, newsletters, and routine parent-teacher meetings
- Ensure children's safety and well-being during daily routines such as meals, nap time, and transitions
- Remain unhurried and attentive in a dynamic environment to support children's learning and development
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to uphold the school's Montessori standards and approach
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma in Montessori Teaching, DECCE-T, or equivalent certificate
- Strong command of English language (minimum B4 in GCE O-Level EL1 or IELTS 6.5 for L2 teachers)
- ECDA L1 or L2 certification with experience in Montessori school settings for children aged 18 months to 6 years
