About The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced
Senior Integration & Middleware Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise integration platforms and API ecosystems. This role will play a critical part in shaping scalable, secure, and cloud-ready integration solutions that support business growth, digital transformation initiatives, and complex technology landscapes.
The successful candidate will provide architectural leadership across middleware, APIs, microservices, and distributed platforms while ensuring alignment with enterprise technology strategies and governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Integration Strategy
- Develop and drive the organization's integration and middleware architecture roadmap.
- Establish architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices for enterprise integration solutions.
- Design scalable and maintainable integration patterns that support both internal and external systems.
API & Microservices Governance
- Define API and microservices architecture principles and ensure adoption across development teams.
- Oversee API lifecycle management, including design standards, version control, security requirements, and usage governance.
- Promote reusable services and integration capabilities across platforms.
Cloud & Platform Architecture
- Design and review cloud-native solutions utilizing modern architectural practices.
- Ensure integration platforms and services are resilient, scalable, highly available, and performance optimized.
- Champion modern engineering approaches including containerization and distributed system design.
Security, Risk & Compliance
- Work closely with security and governance teams to embed security-by-design principles into solutions.
- Ensure integration architectures comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks that could affect system reliability or business continuity.
Technical Leadership
- Provide architectural oversight and technical direction for complex initiatives.
- Hands-on development experience, and proven operational support expertise within middleware and integration platforms
- Conduct architecture reviews and guide development teams on solution design decisions.
- Mentor engineers and technical teams while fostering architecture excellence across the organization.
Stakeholder Collaboration
You will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders including:
- Software Engineering and Application Development teams
- Integration and Platform Engineering teams
- DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Operations teams
- Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance functions
- Product Owners and Business Stakeholders
- Enterprise Architecture and Technology Governance groups
- External technology partners, vendors, and system integrators
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 8 years experience in IT, with significant exposure to middleware, integration, platform engineering, or solution architecture.
- Proven track record designing and implementing enterprise-scale integration solutions within complex environments.
- Experience delivering cloud-based architectures that support high-availability and business-critical applications.
- Strong hands-on technical background in backend development and modern software architecture principles.
- Demonstrated success leading architecture reviews, defining technical standards, and influencing technology decisions across multiple teams.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of middleware technologies, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerized applications, and integration platforms.
- Strong knowledge of API governance, lifecycle management, security practices, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with observability, automation, resilience engineering, and operational readiness concepts.
Leadership & Communication
- Ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Strong consultative and influencing skills with experience operating across cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable balancing business priorities, delivery timelines, governance requirements, and technical excellence.
