About the Role
Analyst within the Middle Office who is responsible for the accurate, independent reporting of daily economic Gross Margin, open financial & physical exposures and attribution/commentary thereof daily. This is coupled with the generation of an accurate monthly IFRS-compliant Gross Margin revaluation, along with the full reconciliations vs the Economic revaluations. Additional accountability includes the direct support of the commercial aims of the company by delivering new product and commodity onboarding within the parameters of the DLC, provision of ad-hoc analysis, support, challenge and corroboration with the commercial teams supported, administer the set of End of Day/trading curve integrity controls and proactively & continuously strive to identify and implement continuous efficiency and control improvement initiatives. The role will offer exposure to Natural Gas, LNG, Power and Metals commodities.
What Will You Do
- Independent generation of a T+1 daily economic P&L revaluation, physical & financial exposure reporting and full attribution thereof linking back to underlying market and position changes, working within the parameters of the middle office policies and frameworks, colloborating with the commercial functions to ensure alginement on valuation and exposure changes.
- Administration of End of Day processes and controls to ensure accurate reporting, including price curve validation covering Independent Price Verification (IPV) and settlement price integrity checks, along with wider trading data integrity within the ETRMs.
- Work closely with the Commercial Teams facilitating and supporting new business and operational readiness ventures, adhering to the DLC framework.
- Work closely with other core Risk functions, ensuring alignment and consistency on risk treatment, and with Finance / Tax, ensuring alignment on month-end IFRS reporting.
- Maintaining appropriate methodology documentation for all process deliverables.
- Preparation of monthly IFRS complaint portfolio valuations, with full explanation of any variances to the daily Economic P&L, ensuring understanding of the appropriate accounting frameworks.
- Proactively identifying and prioritising both IT-supported initiatives / end-user tactical solutions to improve team efficiencies and reduce operational risk and controls.
- Creation and preparation of both periodic and ad-hoc Middle Office reports for senior management.
What Will You Bring
- Bachelor's degree or similar qualification or relevant industry experience will be considered
- Prior Experience within commodities trading organisation, with direct exposure to the Deal Lifecycle is desired.
- Prior exposure to commodities valuation principles is advantageous, and where relevant, exposure to IFRS 9 / IAS32 is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills are essential given the interaction across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Proactive self-starter attitude, with understanding of the energy markets and key drivers of price change
- Ability to make balanced decisions under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and stakeholders.
- Solid analytical skills are a must, facilitating concise report generation for senior management and other stakeholders.
