This role will be leading the Finance Department, including staffing, setting up accounting processes, internal controls and operational workflow. Working in close partnership with Manulife Singapore (MLS) and reporting dually to MFA CEO and Head of Finance of MLS. Acting as the key point of contact for management, regulators, auditors and bankers. Ensuring proper communication with all stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for proper operational process, accounting and internal controls for all collections, payments, and accounting matters
- Review of materials for board's meetings and any other reports required by management.
- Review accounting entries, reconciliations or analysis prepared by accounting staff.
- Responsible for financial statements and statutory reports to regulators such as MAS and ACRA
- Review financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and management reports.
- Capital management, ensuring capital adequacy in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Cash flow and expense management
- Responsible for GST and tax submission to IRAS
- Member of the management, BSC appeal, fit and proper and disciplinary committee to provide feedback.
- Manage the recruitment, training, and management activities of accounting staff.
- Carry out any project or assignment as directed by management.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or ACCA
- At least 10 years of accounting and auditing experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial position, preferably relevant experience in an insurance intermediary
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements of insurance intermediaries such as Financial Advisors Act and Financial Reporting Standards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Pro-active, analytical, well organized and process oriented
