We are partnering with an established international energy and commodities trading company that is expanding its methanol trading business in Asia. The company has an existing customer and demand base in Europe and is looking to build out its Asian trading activities by leveraging these flows, relationships and market intelligence.

This role will be approximately 50% physical trading and 50% business development, with responsibility for developing new supply and customer relationships while actively trading methanol across Asian markets.

Role

Reporting to Global Head of New Energy. The role will develop and manage a physical methanol trading portfolio across Asia, with a balanced focus on third-party trading and business development. Leverage existing European demand, customer relationships and trade flows to create new opportunities in Asia, while building relationships with producers, traders, distributors and end-users. Identify arbitrage and market opportunities, manage pricing, negotiation, contracts and P&L, and work closely with Operations, Shipping, Risk and Finance to ensure smooth execution. Monitor methanol fundamentals, freight and regional supply-demand dynamics, and use paper derivatives or swaps where appropriate for hedging and risk management.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Business or a related discipline, around 5+ years of experience in methanol, Ammonia, chemicals or related commodity trading, with direct methanol experience preferred. Strong knowledge of the Asian methanol market, including key producers, consumers, trade flows and pricing dynamics, together with proven experience in physical third-party trading and business development. The ideal candidate should have an established regional network, strong commercial and origination skills, good understanding of physical cargo economics and freight, and some exposure to methanol derivatives or paper markets.
