About the Client

Our client is a locally founded, fast growing business within the FMCG sector. They have expanded operations across SEA and have huge plans to further grow the business. They are now inviting a Merchandising Manager to join their team.

Position Summary

The Merchandising Manager will spearhead product strategy and procurement operations. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a unique blend of commercial intuition, numerical precision, and aesthetic judgment.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of product lifecyclefrom global sourcing and supply chain management to the visual presentation and marketability of the catalogue. As a key business partner to the management and sales teams, you will be responsible for ensuring merchandise is both trend-setting and highly profitable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and professionalize the product team, fostering a culture of high performance and operational excellence.
  • Streamline workflows between sourcing, inventory management, and data entry to ensure accuracy in internal systems.
  • Exercise a sharp merchandising eye to select products and oversee visual assets (photography and presentation) that maximize market appeal.
  • Proactively identify emerging market shifts and product innovations to maintain a competitive edge in the corporate gifting landscape.
  • Monitoring margins, landed costs, and SKU-level performance.
  • Support the sales team with expert product recommendations and cost-effective alternatives to secure high-value contracts.
  • Lead decisions on product assortmentidentifying new trends to onboard while managing the phase-out of slow-moving or discontinued stock to optimize turnover.
  • Manage and expand a robust network of local and international suppliers (specifically within China and ASEAN).
  • Source and manage local and international suppliers (specifically China/ASEAN).
  • Lead negotiations regarding pricing, MOQs, and technical specifications.

Skills and experience required

  • A diploma or degree in any discipline
  • Proven experience in international sourcing and supplier management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking full ownership of your portfolio and driving its overall success.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with confidence in handling complex costing structures and inventory data.
  • An eye for visual merchandising and product presentation, with the ability to position offerings attractively for corporate clients.
