Job Description: Merchandising Manager (Wholesale & Distribution)

We are a wholesale and distribution company specializing in daily-use and essential consumer products, including shampoo, body wash, detergents, cooking oil, canned food, beverages, sauces, instant noodles, household cleaning products, and personal care items.
We import products from overseas and distribute them to supermarkets, minimarts, and retail chains across Singapore.
Position Overview
We are seeking a commercially driven Merchandising Manager to lead product strategy and category performance across our wholesale business. This role is responsible for managing product assortment, pricing, supplier coordination, and inventory optimization to drive sales growth and profitability.
The candidate will play a key role in aligning product selection with market demand and ensuring competitiveness in the retail distribution landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies to drive sales growth, margin improvement, and market competitiveness
- Plan and manage product assortment across categories such as personal care, household goods, and packaged food products
- Analyze sales data, customer demand, and market trends to optimize product mix and pricing strategies
- Work closely with procurement and suppliers to source products at competitive pricing and ensure consistent supply
- Lead pricing, promotion, and discount strategies to maximize revenue and inventory turnover
- Monitor inventory levels, stock movement, and demand forecasting to minimize overstock and stock shortages
- Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure effective product distribution and availability
- Identify new product opportunities and expand product range based on consumer trends and market demand
- Oversee product positioning, packaging, and merchandising strategies to improve sales performance
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, gross margin, and stock turnover
- Prepare reports and provide strategic recommendations to management
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in merchandising, category management, or retail/wholesale distribution
- Strong experience in product selection, pricing strategy, and inventory management
- Good understanding of FMCG products and consumer demand trends
- Experience working with suppliers and managing product sourcing is preferred
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple product categories and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in wholesale distribution or supplying to supermarkets and minimarts
- Familiarity with POS data analysis and inventory management systems
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
- Experience in managing supplier relationships locally and overseas
