JOB DESCRIPTION
MERCHANDISE PURCHASING MANAGER
(For Steel Products & Raw Materials for Steel Production)
- Develop and implement effective action plans to achieve purchase targets set by the Director. Ensure the achievement of both divisional and personal targets, in alignment with the company's purchasing policies and strategies.
- Drive competitive sourcing activities, identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that met with business requirements.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to meet growth and financial objectives through effective integration with forecasting, demand/supply planning, and distribution & logistics
- Leading supplier development and strategic sourcing initiatives that secure quality, cost-effective, and reliable materials and components.
- Proactively search for potential suppliers through various channels.
- Lead supplier identification, approval, contract/pricing negotiations and vendor relations.
- Attend supplier inquiries and provide prompt and accurate responses.
- Communicate with suppliers to negotiate purchase terms, pricing, and other relevant terms to maximize profit and minimize costs.
- Coordinate with relevant departments, such as Chartering, Operations, Finance, Legal to facilitate the completion of deals ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Stay informed throughout every step of the purchase contract process and remain vigilant in dealing with any potential disputes that may arise.
- Develops and sustains mutually beneficial strategic relationships with suppliers, conducts regular performance reviews, fosters collaboration and ensuring alignment with the company's safety, reliability, and sustainability goals.
- Remain updated about industry trends, market conditions, and the activities of competitors, to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
- Travel for business within short notices.
Job Requirements:
- 10 years of experience in international trade for steel products and raw materials for steel production with specific achievements.
- Graduates / postgraduates of Business Administration, Banking, International Trade.
- Have strong knowledge on steel industry of not only Vietnamese market but other regions in Asia, and relevant issues of international trade such as international payment, sea / air transportation and international trade law.
- Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including holidays as scheduled.
- Having experience in purchasing steel and cement making raw materials.
- Independent, confident and knowledge-sharing spirit.
- Good leading skills, persuasive skills and can work under pressure.
- Active in doing market research and have can-do attitude.
- Good written and spoken English and Vietnamese, computer literacy.
- Be active and ready to go on business trip (in South East Asia, China, Middle East, Australia and other countries) if required.
