About The Role
To develop accurate cost estimates for MEP equipment and on-site installation from the owner's perspective, supporting procurement decisions, budget management, and value engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for direct supply items (e.g., transformers, UPS, switchgear, chillers, cooling towers), covering equipment, freight, taxes, and delivery.
- Estimate installation costs, including on-site labor rates, subcontractor expenses, productivity factors, and installation efficiency for data centre fit-outs.
- Benchmark costs against industry standards, historical data, and current market intelligence.
- Support value engineering initiatives by evaluating alternative designs and materials.
- Collaborate with procurement to validate supplier quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop comprehensive cost breakdowns for management approval and board-level presentations.
- Monitor actual versus estimated costs and perform variance analysis.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in MEP or installation costing within data centres, industrial facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of data centre MEP systems, including electrical, cooling, fire protection, and BMS.
- Proficient in cost estimation tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Good knowledge of local labor rates and subcontracting practices in Malaysia and the SEA region.
