The Clinical Sample Analysis Specialist II performs, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine laboratory analyses using manual, automated, and/or microscopic methods. This role involves analyzing and evaluating individual and related laboratory data, recognizing patterns or trends that suggest the significance of results, and determining their clinical relevance. The Specialist II authors and modifies Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and acts as a mentor to newer employees. Additionally, the Specialist II interacts regularly with non-laboratory departments and assists with administrative duties as requested by laboratory management.

What You'll Do:
. Perform, review, and interpret complex, esoteric, and routine chemical, hematological, coagulation, renal, lipid, and hormonal analyses by manual, automated, and/or microscopic means.
. Integrate analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols to evaluate credibility, appropriateness and accuracy of test results in order to facilitate entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs.
. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair clinical laboratory equipment, including routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks.
. Recognize and pursue instrument problems and resolutions and independently evaluate and take appropriate course of action necessary to produce accurate patient information when major instrument problems occur.
. Evaluate analytical reagents, calibrators, and QC standards to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
. Evaluate quality control procedures, evaluate results, and implement corrective action when indicated. Perform ongoing statistical data analysis to detect trends and problems and undertake corrective action.
. Run comparison studies for precision, accuracy, and linearity on new or existing assays or instruments. Assist with design and implementation of new procedures and the modification of existing procedures.
. Regularly provide instruction for new employees and students in the theory and practice of laboratory medicine and the interpretation of results. Serve in a mentor to team members, providing guidance and reviewing and checking work.

Requirements:

. Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent with at least 2 years relevant Med Tech experience.

. Able to commit to flexible work arrangement, a minimum of 40 hours per week (5-day work week), Monday-Saturday, excluding lunch. Flexible work hours to meet operational needs (rotating shifts may be required: 8am - 5pm, 9am - 6pm or 10.30am - 7.30pm). Able to commit to rotating Public Holiday duties and on call duties on Sundays.

. Successful candidate will have opportunities to be cross trained in various sections within the laboratory.
