Job Description

The Position

  • Build trusted partnerships with external stakeholders by driving peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and improving disease awareness/understanding (in alignment with therapeutic-area/asset strategy) to facilitate appropriate patient-management decisions.
  • From the clinical development phase onwards, inform strategic decisions, support organizational goals, and help improve patient care, by developing a deep understanding of the therapeutic area and healthcare landscape (including stakeholder networks and patient care pathways), and gathering actionable insights.
  • Identify the needs of external stakeholders, recognize opportunities for healthcare solutions and data-generation, and proactively address the needs by collaborating with internal stakeholders and leveraging external partnerships.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Stakeholder engagement

  • From the clinical development phase onwards, identify, profile, and strategically engage with relevant external stakeholders in the territory, to build long-term partnerships and facilitate early clinical adoption. The stakeholders may include (but are not limited to) External Experts (EEs), Healthcare Providers (HCPs), Centers of Excellence (CoEs), Healthcare Organizations (HCOs), payors, key decision makers, patients and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs).
  • Develop a deep understanding of stakeholder network, healthcare landscape, and patient-care pathways, in collaboration with internal cross-functional team members. Utilize this understanding to develop and execute a territory-specific strategic stakeholder engagement plan that supports the TA/asset Scientific Objectives (SOs) and priorities, and is aligned to Integrated Asset Plan (IAP).
  • Understand and apply the skills and behaviors of the Hybrid Customer Engagement Model for Medical (H-CEMM) and Strategic Account Management (SAM) while engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Communicate scientific data and asset value-proposition effectively, using omnichannel orchestration, ensuring that individual preferences and needs of external stakeholders are met.
  • Recognize the gaps in patient journeys, and identify opportunities that aim to improve referral pathways.
    Lead/support activities such as medical education, preceptorships, round-table discussions, advisory boards and congresses (scientific sessions & Medical booth)

Gathering insights

  • Proactively gather & record action-focused insights related (but not limited) to disease management, healthcare landscape, patient journey, stakeholder network, clinical data gaps, educational gaps, clinical development, competitors, future trends, content feedback, efficacy/safety of our medicines, health equity, market access, patient outcomes, stakeholder needs, and product use in practice.
  • Share insights internally to Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams (as appropriate), to stimulate scientific exploration, and identification of collaborative opportunities.
    Develop and execute (or support development and execution of) strategies/actions based on the insights.

Collaborations

  • Share learnings with internal cross-functional teams, and collaborate to maximize opportunities.
  • Support Clinical Development & Operations team in activities such as site/investigator identification, site-initiation, and identification of recruitment gaps.
  • Collaborate with Market Access/Healthcare Economics & Outcomes Research/Healthcare Affairs team for discussions on scientific data and asset value-proposition.
  • Explore the needs & challenges of patients, in collaboration with Patient Engagement team.
  • Support the implementation of Early Access (or related) Programs.
  • Support the development of resources and delivery of trainings for internal medical and non-medical functions.
  • Lead/support identification & briefing of external speakers.
  • Collaborate with, or support, internal and external stakeholders for data generation, including real world evidence (e.g., for External Collaborative Research,
  • Observational Non-Interventional Studies, and Investigator Initiated Studies).

About our future employee

  • Bachelors in the field of life/health science or other Medicine-related discipline. Possessing an advanced degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MBA) will be an advantage.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is required experience in the ILD therapeutic area is highly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with different internal and external stakeholders, to develop & strengthen trusted partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use technical and digital tools including Microsoft Office 365 applications, and an aptitude for learning new software, to perform all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to manage time and resources optimally .
  • Demonstrates proactive attitude, growth mindset, agility, emotional intelligence, teamwork, trustworthiness, resilience, accountability and leadership.
  • Willingness to travel (within the territory/nation, and occasionally internationally).
  • Ability to fulfil key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with respective responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of local healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care - preferred.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry and/or related scientific/clinical area - preferred.
