Job Type: Contract 6-month (Subject to renewal on 6-month basis)
Security Clearance: Requires CAT2/CAT2A (Singapore Citizens preferred)
We are seeking a versatile and hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable at a soldering station, a Linux terminal, and in the field during flight trials. You will play a critical role in the end-to-end lifecycle of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), from component selection and PCB assembly to firmware debugging and system integration. For the first 6 months, you will be stationed at Client's Site for the UAS system and subsequently extendable at either Client's Site or Avetics Global, for another 6 months.
Hardware Integration & Assembly
System Integration: Perform full-scale assembly of drone platforms, including motor mounting, flight controller installation, and wiring harness routing.
Electronics Fabrication: Execute high-precision soldering of surface-mount and through-hole components. Apply conformal coating or resin potting to ensure electronics are ruggedized for environmental resilience.
Power Management: Safely handle, charge, and test high-capacity LiPo batteries, ensuring all power systems meet safety and performance standards.
Software & Firmware Development
Programming: Develop and maintain scripts or modules using C++ and Python for flight control systems or peripheral interfacing.
Firmware Optimization: (Preferred) Modify or tune flight controller firmware (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot) to optimize stability and mission-specific parameters.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Diagnostic Analysis: Interpret complex electrical schematics to identify faults. Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers to troubleshoot signal interference and power ripples.
Component Validation: Support the evaluation and benchmarking of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) drone components (ESC, GPS, telemetry links).
Field Trials: Participate in active outfield testing and flight trials at designated sites to validate system performance in real-world conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Citizenship: Singapore Citizen (preferred) to facilitate security clearance up to CAT2/CAT2A.
Technical Skillset: Proven ability to read electrical schematics and perform manual soldering.
Programming: Proficiency in C++ and Python.
Physical/Logistical: Willingness to work onsite at Client's Site and support outfield trials.
Preferred Skills:
Background in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
Familiarity with RF testing and spectrum management.
This is a high-impact role where your work translates directly into flight. You will work within a specialized facility at the forefront of Singapore's defense and technology landscape, gaining exposure to cutting-edge UAS hardware and sophisticated electronic testing environments.
