Mechanical Technician

Job Summary

You will maintain mechanical equipment and facilities in a safe environment, perform planned and unplanned maintenance, assist contractor oversight, and participate in technical and safety activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical equipment and facilities and to aid in the manufacturing of all company products in a safe and sanitary work environment

• Responsible for the completion of all planned or unplanned mechanical maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of equipment (e.g. pumps, tank, piping, valves) as assigned

• Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors

• Fault-finding and repair of plant, systems and equipment

• Participates in Risk Assessments as part of Permit to Work preparation

• Interprets technical drawings and prepares reports on work done

• Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined

• Perform minor piping fabrication, modification

• Maintain all machine shop tools and equipment such as, and not limited to, welding set, working tooling, lifting gear, as required

• Support equipment inspection with vendor representative on tanks, column, pipelines and centrifuge

• Rebuilding valves, pumps, gearboxes and drives

• Perform predictive maintenance activities e.g. vibration monitoring, infra-red thermography & etc

• Complete all required in house training in a timely manner

• Adhere and compliant with SHE rules

• Liaise with stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of the works and/or services

All other duties and activities as directed by Supervisor

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Possess at least a NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or equivalent
• Class 3 driving license is an advantage but not essential
• Ability to work 44 hours per week
• Experience in equipment maintenance within water, wastewater treatment, or chemical process industries is highly preferred
