Job Description

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to oversee all aspects of mechanical research and development from concepts through to mass production.
  • Understand clients needs and design innovative and robust mechanisms to achieve the desired outcome of project/job/product requirements.
  • Adopt design approach such as hypothesis generation, project design and planning, calculations, material preparation, characterisation and testing, compilation of results and analysis evaluation.
  • Initiate market research and propose design changes to the device to improve user experience: compactness, durability, cost savings, efficiency.
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis for designed products.
  • Perform FEA simulations to ensure designs are robust.
  • Drafting of 3D designs in CAD (Solidworks).
  • Perform hands on in-house prototyping for functional and aesthetic validation.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA) for components and designed products.
  • Output all relevant files and documentation for our suppliers (CAD & Engineering Drawings).
  • Finalize designs, generate assembly drawings and process sheets to the Production department.
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks.
  • Provide technical advice to the team as required.
  • Provide technical assistance during acceptance at clients site.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in Mechanical Design.
  • Able to work Independently under minimum supervision and exhibit proactiveness in learning.
  • Good proficiency and hands-on experience in Solidworks.
  • Good knowledge in product design and design methodologies including human factors in design.
  • Prior knowledge in manufacturing processes and materials such as (but not limited to) Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, Die Casting, Foam Casting, Welding.
  • Proficient in quick-turn prototype building (3D Printing / CNC).
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Strong sense of ownership over work tasks and able to drive projects through from conceptualization to completion.
  • Agile thinker, able to adapt to changes quickly.
  • Good interpersonal, management and decision-making skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
