Mechanical Engineer (UPW / WWTP) - Semiconductor Industry
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the execution of semiconductor Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical review, inspection, coordination, and quality oversight of mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, pressure vessels, tanks, skids, and associated piping systems.
The role requires close collaboration with Project, Construction, Commissioning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and QA/QC teams to ensure equipment and project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage technical matters relating to mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, pressure vessels, tanks, skids, piping systems, technical drawings, and P&IDs.
- Review equipment specifications, vendor documents, technical drawings, and P&IDs to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct receiving inspections of equipment and materials delivered to site and verify condition, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
- Support review of batch records, quality records, inspection reports, and related project documentation.
- Generate, maintain, and control document submittal registers, technical records, and project documentation.
- Ensure project quality and technical documents are prepared, approved, and maintained in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Review equipment and process logs to monitor performance, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and provide technical recommendations to support project execution and product quality.
- Work closely with Project, Construction, Commissioning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and QA/QC teams to ensure successful equipment delivery and project completion.
- Support investigations into quality-related issues and participate in corrective and preventive action implementation.
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party inspection bodies on technical and quality-related matters.
- Assess supplier and subcontractor compliance with project technical and quality requirements.
- Report inspection findings, technical concerns, non-conformances, and project issues to the Engineering Manager, QA/QC Manager, or Project Manager in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the Semiconductor, Electronics, Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), Water Treatment Plant (WTP), or Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) industries.
- Experience working with pumps, valves, pressure vessels, tanks, skids, piping systems, and mechanical equipment packages.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Familiarity with equipment inspections, vendor documentation review, and project documentation control.
- Good understanding of quality requirements, equipment verification, and construction/commissioning activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, and strong sense of accountability and ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting semiconductor facility projects.
- Knowledge of Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) systems.
- Exposure to commissioning, start-up, or equipment validation activities.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers, contractors, and inspection agencies.
