Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)
We are seeking a skilled Robotics Engineer with hands-on experience in wafer handling robots, robot teaching/programming, end-effector design, and mechanical system integration. The candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, and optimizing
robotic systems used in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
Develop, program, and optimize wafer handling robotic systems for semiconductor tools.
Perform robot teaching, path optimization, calibration, and motion tuning for highprecision wafer transfer.
Design and validate custom end effectors suitable for various wafer sizes
Integrate robotic systems with process chambers, load ports, aligners, and EFEM modules.
Ensure mechanical alignment, repeatability, and contamination control compliance.
Work closely with electrical, controls, and software teams for full system integration.
Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
Support installation, commissioning, and customer site acceptance testing (SAT).
Prepare technical documentation including design specifications and integration reports.
Analyze and optimize existing motion control systems to improve performance, accuracy, and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate motion control solutions into semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Perform calculations and analysis to ensure system performance and reliability.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
Requirements (Must Have)
Bachelor's/ Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in designing and implementing motion control systems, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
Experience in semiconductor automation or wafer handling systems.
Understanding of SEMI standards and cleanroom requirements.
Strong knowledge of:
Robot teaching and motion control
Precision mechanical design
Hands-on experience with CAD tools (Creo).
Experience in mechanical tolerance stack-up and alignment methodologies.
Experience working with robotic systems from semiconductor OEMs.
Familiarity with FMEA, DFMEA, and reliability testing.
Strong problem-solving skills, Attention to precision and detail, Cross-functional
collaboration
Ability to work in fast-paced NPI environments
Customer-facing communication capability
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Requirements (Nice to have)
Knowledge of wafer mapping, alignment, and edge detection systems.
Understanding of SEMI standards and cleanroom requirements.
Familiarity with Motion control, Kinematics and their integration with motion control.
Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
