Job Summary
You will develop and deliver high-precision mechanical designs for customised automation and semiconductor equipment, collaborating across teams to translate customer needs into innovative engineering solutions and supporting prototype development through to production.
Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies and define design specifications to provide technical input for design proposals
- Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for customised automation and semiconductor equipment
- Collaborate with application and sales teams to translate customer requirements into practical engineering concepts
- Design machine features, mechanisms, fixtures, and tooling for proof-of-concept and prototype development
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up studies, and analyze critical design parameters
- Create accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent CAD software
- Prepare and release complete design documentation including bills of materials, drawings, and technical records
- Apply GD&T, DFM, and DFA principles to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, reliable, and cost-effective
- Work with manufacturing teams to establish assembly processes, testing methods, and qualification procedures
- Participate in hands-on prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and qualification activities
- Source and evaluate mechanical, motion, and process components to support procurement activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet design requirements, project timelines, and budgets
- Support implementation and maintenance of engineering documentation control and design database systems
- Provide timely technical support throughout design, build, testing, and customer application stages
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent discipline
- Proficiency in 3D mechanical CAD software experience with Autodesk Inventor preferred
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM, and DFA principles
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and make sound technical decisions
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, machine design, precision equipment, or related fields
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience with motion systems, drive components, mechanisms, and machine elements
- Experience in prototype development, machine assembly, testing, or troubleshooting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with customers, suppliers, and colleagues at all organizational levels
