Job Scope
Mechanical Design & Development
Design and develop mechanical structures, airframes, enclosures, mounts, and components for UAV systems using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
Perform structural, thermal, and basic CFD simulations to validate mechanical performance
Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles
Systems Integration
Work closely with electrical, software, and systems engineers to ensure seamless mechanical integration with avionics, propulsion, and payload systems
Ensure mechanical designs meet overall system performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
Prototyping & Fabrication
Rapid prototyping using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other fabrication techniques
Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for performance and cost efficiency
Testing & Validation
Conduct mechanical, vibration, flight, and environmental testing to validate durability and reliability
Analyse test data and iterate designs for optimisation
Issue Resolution
Troubleshoot mechanical issues during prototyping, testing, and production
Implement design improvements to enhance performance and robustness
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain detailed engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, test reports, and SOPs
Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry best practices
Project Ownership
Support or lead mechanical development from concept to production
Manage timelines, deliverables, and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders
Research & Innovation
Stay updated with advancements in drone technology, materials engineering, and advanced manufacturing processes
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
Support the engineering team with additional technical tasks as required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or Advanced & Digital Manufacturing
Strong interest in UAV/drone technologies and mechanical systems development
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360 or equivalent)
Experience or knowledge in design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) and advanced fabrication methods
Understanding of structural analysis and mechanical fundamentals
Able to manage multiple projects concurrently
Meticulous, responsible, and detail-oriented
Independent and proactive, yet collaborative team player
Hands-on mindset and willing to work on prototyping, testing, and fabrication
Passionate about learning and pushing engineering boundaries
