Job Summary
Provide operational and administrative support to the Materials Planning team in managing material availability to support production schedules. Assist in tracking purchase orders, updating planning systems, monitoring supplier deliveries, and maintaining accurate materials data to ensure timely supply, optimal inventory levels, and system integrity. Support Materials Planning team in daily execution activities including expediting materials, resolving shortages, and maintaining planning accuracy to support operational performance and customer delivery commitments.
Responsibilities
- Track purchase orders and delivery schedules with Central Supply Chain and suppliers to ensure timely material availability
- Update and maintain accurate planning data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), including delivery dates, order confirmations, and material status updates
- Monitor and report material shortages, past due orders, and supplier delivery performance to support planning decisions
- Expedite critical materials to support production schedules and reduce supply disruptions
- Track excess, obsolete, or slow-moving materials to support inventory management
- Coordinate materials related to engineering changes, new product introductions, and supplier transitions
- Prepare reports and planning data for Materials Planning reviews to facilitate informed decision-making
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency, system accuracy, and process discipline
- Adhere to operational standards, EH&S regulations, quality requirements, and Collins Aerospace policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma in Supply Chain, Business or related discipline
- Candidates with up to 1-2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or supply chain operations
- Basic understanding of supply chain or materials planning processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP preferred
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in operational contexts
- Strong attention to detail to maintain data accuracy
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and suppliers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
