Department / Role Overview
Ashurst's Global Clients, Markets & Growth (CMG) team operates across Asia Pacific, EMEA, and the US, driving the firm's client and market strategy to achieve profitable growth. We focus on priority clients, sectors, and products, leveraging data-driven insights, marketing excellence, and operational innovation.
- Ashurst's Asia practice comprises of Ashurst Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, Ashurst ADTLaw (our Formal Law Alliance in Singapore), Oentoeng Suria & Partners (our associated office in Jakarta) and our South Korea Joint Venture (in Seoul), which has been growing rapidly.
- The Markets & Growth (M&G) Manager will focus on supporting Projects & Energy Transition (PET) Practice and the Energy and Infrastructure Industry in Asia, and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the regional go-to-market strategy, ensuring alignment with global priorities. This regional position requires strategic thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to lead initiatives that enhance client experience and deliver measurable growth outcomes. The decision to base this role in Singapore or potentially in Hong Kong reflects business alignment with the PET Practice's APAC platform and proximity to key stakeholders. The role will work in close alignment with key stakeholders in this practice.

Core Responsibilities
Pitch Process Ownership & Capability Building
- Lead and oversee the full lifecycle of the pitch process - from opportunity identification and strategy development to content creation, submission, follow-up, and post-pitch analysis.
- Ensure pitches are compelling, client-focused, and aligned with firm positioning and pricing strategies.
- Inspire, coach, and train team members and lawyers to adopt best practices in pitch management, building confidence and capability to deliver high-quality proposals under tight deadlines.
Operational Excellence
- Champion process improvements and adoption of new systems to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with global credentialing, reporting, and panel requirements.
Client & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, understand key clients, and facilitate internal knowledge sharing to drive cross-selling and deepen client engagement.
- Support Senior Managers and Directors globally in representing the CMG function in regional forums and contributing to global projects and initiatives.
Team & Project Management
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the Asia M&G team, fostering capability development, knowledge sharing, and best practices across business development and marketing activities.
- Oversee delivery of marketing materials and client-facing content, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Support Senior Managers and Director in Asia in managing regional budgets, aligning spend with business objectives andfirm strategy.
Strategic Leadership Support
- Support the development and execution of the Asia go-to-market plan, ensuring alignment with global CMG priorities.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to help shape client account strategies, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to pricing and negotiation approaches.
- Monitor market trends and competitive intelligence to provide insights that inform strategic decisions and revenue generation initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven experience in business development, marketing, or client strategy within professional services or a similar industry. Knowledge in energy and infrastructure sectors will be highly regarded.
- Strong desire to grow as a leader, with demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence partners, legal professionals, and business support teams at all levels.
- Recognised as a person of integrity and character, demonstrating professionalism, trustworthiness, and the ability to inspire confidence among colleagues and clients.
- High level of discretion, diplomacy, and cultural awareness.
- Commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with a track record of supporting the delivery of growth initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage complex projects and prioritise competing demands effectively.
- Proficiency in English and another regional language is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., InterAction) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, or a related discipline.
