We are seeking an experienced Loss Prevention Executive / Manager to join a well-established international marine organisation. The successful candidate will provide specialist technical and risk management support to members, helping to identify, assess and mitigate operational risks across their fleets.
The role will involve close engagement with shipowners, ship managers, masters and other maritime stakeholders, as well as collaboration with internal Claims, Underwriting and Legal teams.
Provide technical loss prevention advice to members on vessel operations, safety, risk management and regulatory compliance.
Conduct ship and fleet visits, risk assessments and condition surveys to identify potential operational and safety risks.
Analyse incidents, casualties, near misses and claims trends to identify recurring risks and develop appropriate preventative measures.
Advise members on practical measures to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents and claims.
Develop and deliver loss prevention initiatives, technical guidance, seminars and training for members and maritime stakeholders.
Monitor developments in IMO regulations, industry standards, emerging technologies and maritime risks, assessing their potential impact on members.
Work closely with Claims, Underwriting and Legal teams to provide technical input into complex or high-risk matters.
Support the organisation's member engagement and risk management strategy across the region.
Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, technical forums and member meetings.
Contribute to technical publications, circulars, alerts and other loss prevention materials.
Provide technical support during significant incidents or casualties where required.
Maintain strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, technical managers, masters and other industry stakeholders.
Travel regularly within the region and internationally to conduct vessel visits, attend member meetings and support loss prevention activities.
Degree or professional qualification in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture or a related maritime discipline.
Significant experience in the commercial shipping or marine industry, ideally with a strong sea-to-shore career progression as a Marine Engineer.
Previous experience in Loss Prevention, Marine Surveying, Technical Management, Ship Management, Classification, Marine Insurance or a related technical function.
Strong understanding of vessel operations, marine safety, risk management and international maritime regulations.
Excellent technical and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify risks and provide practical solutions to shipowners and ship managers.
People-oriented and strong team player, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across Claims, Underwriting, Legal, Loss Prevention and other internal teams.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging shipowners, technical managers, Masters, Chief Engineers and senior maritime executives.
Strong report-writing, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Commercially aware, proactive and comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative international team.
Willingness to undertake regional and international travel for vessel visits, member meetings and industry engagements.
Experience with tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels or other commercial ship types
