Marine Underwriter (Insurer)
Responsibilities
- Underwrite Marine Hull and Cargo risks in accordance with company guidelines and authority limits to ensure accurate risk management.
- Assess risk exposures, determine pricing, and structure policy terms to maintain profitability and competitive offerings.
- Review and approve quotations, renewals, and endorsements to uphold underwriting standards.
- Liaise effectively with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve underwriting matters and enhance service delivery.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with intermediaries to drive business growth and market presence.
- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute insights to develop effective underwriting strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements to mitigate operational risks.
- Collaborate with Claims and Reinsurance teams to assess risks and align policy terms with company objectives.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Insurance, Maritime Studies, Business, or related discipline.
- Preferably at least 3 years of experience in Marine Underwriting (Hull and/or Cargo).
- Strong knowledge of marine insurance products and policy wordings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
