Marine Superintendent

Responsibilities

• Check safety standards and systems, and suggest improvements where needed
• Work with the Marine Manager to make sure vessels meet international maritime standards
• Help finalise commercial agreements with charter parties
• Create contingency plans and spot any discrepancies
• Keep track of certificates for all vessels, and oversee safety, nautical, and commercial operations
• Spot risk areas and work with the technical department to manage them
• Support vessel Masters during pre vetting inspections, including SIRE assessments
• Check navigation, communication, and safety equipment to make sure they are working well
• Prepare and send performance reports to clients for assigned vessels
• Keep good working relationships with local authorities and classification societies
  
  

Requirements

• Class 1 Certificate of Competency, with at least a Diploma in Maritime Studies or a related field
• At least 2 years of shore based experience in ship management or with a shipowner, preferably in tankers
• Good technical knowledge of vessel operations, and comfortable using MS Office
• Strong communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team, with a results driven attitude
