Job Description:

We are looking for a hands-on and responsible Service Technician to support the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment. The role will involve travelling to shipyards and occasionally boarding vessels to perform technical work. This is a shore-based position, and the technician will not be required to sail with the vessel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation, testing, servicing, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment.

  • Carry out basic electrical wiring, termination, fault-finding, and troubleshooting.

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.

  • Attend service jobs at shipyards, onboard vessels, and other customer locations when required.

  • Read and understand basic electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Use electrical testing instruments and common hand tools safely.

  • Prepare basic service reports and record completed work accurately.

  • Coordinate seamlessly with engineers, supervisors, customers, and other contractors during service jobs.

  • Strictly follow all company, shipyard, and vessel safety requirements.

  • Perform other technical duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics, or another related engineering discipline. (Candidates without formal qualifications but with relevant hands-on technical experience will be strongly considered).

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems is required hands-on experience with electronic systems is a strong advantage.

  • Comfortable working in an industrial or marine environment (shipyards, onboard vessels).

  • Physically fit to perform boarding of vessels, which may involve climbing steep gangways and working in tight spaces.

  • Able to safely use basic electrical testing equipment and hand tools.

  • Responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Willing to learn and undergo comprehensive on-the-job training.
