Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and various components. Perform repairs on inboard and outboard engines, specifically on fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems. Conduct routine maintenance to verify that all shipboard systems are functioning properly. Maintain cleanliness in the ship and engine room when onboard. Provide detailed reports on work conducted, clarifying the nature of repairs and services to clients. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Comply with environmental regulations related to marine services and repairs. Maintain accurate records of services performed, including time, parts used, and labour effort. Utilize service management software for logging and tracking repairs and maintenance tasks. Collaborate closely with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflows and customer satisfaction. Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians as required. Undertake any additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or a related field is preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in marine service and repair. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capability. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service equipment. Knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Capability to lift heavy objects, work under varying weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
