Our client is a reputable ship management company seeking a Safety & Quality Manager to support and oversee the company's HSEQ management system, compliance, audits, and regulatory activities across the fleet.
This role is ideal for a maritime professional with sailing background and shore-based HSEQ exposure who enjoys working in a structured and compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and acquire regulatory updates from industry sources, review and assess operational impact
- Manage and maintain KPI, PSC, and HSEQ records, including analysis and reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual HSEQ reports for management and vessel owners
- Maintain and update BMS-centric QDMS documentation and reports
- Coordinate and support Top Management Review (TMR) activities, including preparation of HSEQ data and action plans
- Plan and coordinate office-centric drills and prepare final drill reports
- Coordinate internal and external audits, maintain records, update MariApps, and follow up on closure of findings
- Maintain HSEQ Inspection & Audit Planner within MariApps
- Support company audits including DOC, ISO, EU MRV, and FuelEU requirements
- Review and submit VGP annual reports
- Support new builds, vessel takeovers, flag changes, and owner name change activities from HSEQ perspective
- Ensure proper maintenance of SQEMS documentation and SSP status onboard vessels
- Follow up on Alerts, Safety Campaigns, and lesson learnt circulars
- Maintain MLC documentation (DMLC I & II), CSR applications, and related regulatory records
- Participate in SMFF & QI annual TTX exercises and regulatory compliance activities
- Liaise closely with vessels, internal stakeholders, authorities, and external auditors on HSEQ matters
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant shore-based HSEQ / Safety & Quality experience within shipping or ship management industry
- Sailing experience as Master / Chief Officer / Chief Engineer / Second Engineer preferred
- Good understanding of:ISM / ISPS / MLC requirementsPSC & Flag State complianceMaritime regulatory reportingSafety Management Systems (SMS)
- Experience handling audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
- Familiar with MariApps or similar maritime management systems will be advantageous
- Strong analytical, coordination, and documentation skills
- Able to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and reporting skills
