Job Description

The Marine Manager oversees and manages Company's fleet of tankers, provide marine related input and advice, coordinates ships owned/managed by the Company and liaise with others to ensure Company's fleet of tankers is run efficiently and safely. This person plays a key role in optimizing vessel operations, bunker efficiency, and fleet performance. Working closely with the Company's Management team, this role is ideal for a Master Mariner with strong technical and leadership skills.

Job Description:

  • Ensure all operational and safety requirements of terminals, charterers, customers as wellas international and local regulations are met.
  • Ensure all requirements of the marine management and navigation audits and inspections are met.
  • Arrange and manage audits and inspections required by the recognised organisation (RO)- ISM, ISPS and MLC.
  • Arrange and manage vetting inspections, including submissions onto the OCIMF SIREonline platform.
  • Ensure that seastaff are proficient in the performance of their duties and understanding of the Safety Management System through continuous evaluation through continuouse valuation, training and feedback.
  • Ensure that all marine operations are safely and effectively performed in accordance with the Safety Management System.
  • Ensure that the vessels onboard notices and publications are up-to-date.
  • Ensure that all equipment and machinery for cargo operations and navigation are properly and punctually maintained, serviced, repaired and replaced as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all accidents/incidents are investigated, root-causes determined, and corrective and preventive actions implemented and enforced.
  • Propose and implement plans to comply with impending international and local marine operations, safety and pollution-prevention regulations and requirements.
  • Monitor and update the Fleet Manager / Director on the vessels operational and safety performance.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, charterers, customers and other third parties regarding marine operations and inspections where required.
  • Coordinate with P&I insurers regarding surveys of the vessels.
  • Deploy and delegate duties to subordinates.
  • Request and distribute resources and shore-based support for the Marine Department.
  • Responsible for preparing and administering the Marine Department's budget.
  • Ensuring that the department's budget is utilised in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in the review of the Safety Management System.
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team.

Job Requirements:

  • Seagoing experience as a Master (at least CoC class 1 or 2) combined with at least seven(7) years of shore experience in relation to safety, health and environment management and compliance for product or chemical tankers.
  • Familiar with international and local maritime regulations and requirements.
  • Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, management and communication skills.
  • Able to motivate and inspire people.
