The Marine Mammal Specialist II is responsible for the daily husbandry, health, training, and welfare of the marine mammals in the Singapore Oceanarium and conducting guest programmes.
Responsibilities:
Animal Husbandry:
- Dolphin care and husbandry, including feeding, handling, observation, enrichment, conditioning and training.
- Support veterinary procedures.
- Handle data recording and reports.
- Maintain cleanliness of dolphin habitats.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of workplace, tools and equipment.
Guest Programmes:
- Conduct guest interaction programmes.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Life Sciences, Psychology or equivalent.
- Possess SCUBA certification (Open Water Dive and above).
- Candidates with no relevant experience or scuba certification, but willing to obtain certification may also apply.
- Confident to work in an aquatic environment.
- Animal husbandry knowledge and passion to work with animals.
- Possess good verbal communication skills.
- Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
- Physically fit and able to lift 15kg of weight as this position requires handling of heavy equipment.
