Marine HR is responsible for supporting the Marine HR team in managing crew-related processes to ensure compliance with international maritime standards and uphold a strong safety and welfare culture across the fleet.
The Marine HR associate ensures efficient crew management and regulatory compliance by coordinating closely with internal departments, ship management teams, Ship Managers, and external manning agents. The Senior Associate/Associate enables the organisation to attain success by aligning crew operations with MOL Chemical Tankers strategic objectives. They directly collaborate within the Marine HR Unit to ensure streamlined processes and effective communication for optimal crew welfare and operational performance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating, and implementing strategic initiatives aligned with the company's Marine HR objectives
- Support to embed a strong safety culture across the organization, in line with the company's core vision and values
- Support safe and reliable operations while contributing to cost-effective crew management practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve Marine HR department goals
- Coordinate with in-house ship management crewing departments and external manning agents on all crewing matters
- Schedule and organize interviews, crew briefings, and liaise with relevant departments.
- Maintain accurate crew records and key performance data
- Assist the Marine HR Leader with projects, strategic initiatives, and ad-hoc assignments - Support and oversee crew welfare programs and initiatives
- Track and monitor performance evaluations for senior officers
- Analyse crew retention trends and recommend improvement strategies
- Prepare and generate reports for internal and external stakeholder
- Contribute to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives related to crew welfare and diversity
- Any other task assigned by the Head of Department, Technical & Optimization and Leader
Industry Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the maritime industry
- Familiar with most IMO conventions, such as STCW, MLC, ILO conventions, flag state requirements, and other industry requirements (e.g., OCIMF, CDI)
- Skilled in auditing ship managers and crewing agencies, interpreting performance metrics, and analyzing data for decision making
- Demonstrated commercial, budgetary, contractual, and strategic experience
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, particularly those relevant to the maritime sector and local regulations
- Strong foundation of safety, and understanding of Marine HR related matters
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and marine HR software systems/ similar
- Good knowledge of STCW, MLC, ILO conventions, and vessel flag state requirements
- Effective team player with a positive working attitude
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, coordination and communication skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in multicultural fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and/or Diploma in Human Resources, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in HR or crewing within the maritime/shipping industry preferred.Knowledge of international maritime regulations (e.g., STCW, MLC) and crew management practices
