This is a strategic role covering marine fuel procurement, bunker supply strategy, pricing, market analysis, supplier negotiations and risk management across a globally operated fleet. The successful candidate will bring strong exposure to the marine fuels market, ideally with a background in bunker trading, fuel procurement, pricing, futures or hedging.
The role will suit someone who is commercially sharp, highly market-aware and confident advising senior stakeholders on fuel strategy, cost optimisation and supply risk in a fast-moving global shipping environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Monitor bunker markets, fuel price movements, supply trends and regional market dynamics to support procurement and commercial decisions.
- Apply trading and pricing knowledge to support cost optimisation, term contract strategy and fuel purchasing decisions.
- Assess exposure to price volatility, supply disruption, counterparty risk and fuel quality issues.
- Support the evaluation of futures, swaps, hedging considerations and other market tools where relevant to fuel procurement strategy.
- Negotiate commercial terms, bunker supply agreements and term contracts with suppliers, traders and service providers.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, coverage and compliance across key bunkering locations.
- Identify alternative bunker ports and supply options to improve cost competitiveness and supply resilience.
- Work closely with fleet operations, finance, sustainability and technical teams to align fuel strategy with business needs.
- Provide senior management with regular updates on market trends, procurement performance, pricing exposure, risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with IMO, regional environmental requirements and internal procurement standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in marine fuels, bunkering, bunker trading, fuel procurement or related shipping/energy markets.
- Strong understanding of bunker pricing, fuel supply chains, global bunker markets and commercial trading dynamics.
- Exposure to fuel futures, swaps, hedging or price risk management would be highly advantageous.
- Proven experience negotiating with bunker suppliers, traders, oil majors or fuel service providers.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, supply reliability, compliance and operational requirements.
- Good understanding of marine fuel quality, bunker claims, regulatory requirements and the evolving decarbonisation landscape.
- Experience supporting a global fleet, shipowner, operator, bunker trader, energy major or marine fuel supplier would be highly relevant.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to provide clear, data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for a marine fuels professional with strong trading and procurement exposure to take on a global role with a well-established international shipping organisation.
If you have what it takes for this role, apply now or share it with someone in your network who would be a good fit.
