Roles & Responsibilities
This entry-level position supports the Fuel Department across fuel operations, data analysis, and digital initiatives, while providing exposure to marine fuel strategy and sustainability developments.
The role is designed to develop future talent, offering opportunities to contribute to operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and cross-regional collaboration, particularly with stakeholders in Singapore and Japan.
1. Fuel Operations Support
- Assist in monitoring marine fuel procurement activities, including price tracking and supplier evaluation
- Support the preparation of operational reports and performance analyses
- Assist in handling fuel-related disputes and maintaining claims documentation
2. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, organize, and analyze fuel-related data (e.g., pricing, consumption, and trends)
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders
- Support data-driven initiatives to enhance cost efficiency and transparency
3. Digital & Process Improvement Initiatives
- Support ongoing digital transformation projects within the Fuel Department
- Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of analytical tools and systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational processes
4. Sustainability & Regulatory Support
- Assist in tracking fuel emissions and environmental performance
- Support the preparation of reports aligned with internal decarbonisation goals and external regulatory requirements (e.g., IMO, FuelEU, ISCC)
- Conduct research on alternative fuels and emerging industry developments
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with internal departments (Operations, Technical, Finance) to support data and reporting requirements
- Coordinate with regional stakeholders, including teams in Japan
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and documentation for management
Job Requirements
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel familiarity with data tools (e.g., Python, Power BI) is an advantage
- Good organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams
Language Requirements
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Fluency in Japanese (spoken and written) is an advantage to support regional collaboration
Additional Requirements / Advantages
- Experience or exposure to AI or Agentic AI-related workflows is an advantage
- Knowledge of the bunker fuel market, including fuel types (e.g., HSFO, LSMGO), bunker standards, and international regulations is preferred
- Prior experience in maritime shipping is required
