Company Overview

Green Sails Pte Ltd is a Singapore marine engineering company specializing in condition monitoring, repairing, overhauling, installing, and commissioning air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and chiller systems onboard commercial and offshore vessels locally and overseas.

Job Summary

This hands-on internship trains you in two areas: machinery condition monitoring (vibration measurement and thermal imaging) and marine HVAC servicing. You will work alongside our senior engineers onboard vessels, preparing you for a full-time Technician role.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out vibration measurements on marine machinery such as pumps, motors, fans, compressors and blowers using handheld vibration analysers and thermal instruments
  • Conduct thermal imaging (infrared) surveys of electrical panels, switchboards, motors and mechanical equipment onboard vessels
  • Record measurement data accurately, follow set measurement points and routes, and upload readings for engineer review
  • Assist senior engineers in interpreting vibration and thermal readings to identify developing faults
  • Assist in servicing and repairing marine air-conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems onboard vessels
  • Service compressors, fan motors, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), and fan coil units (FCUs) under supervision
  • Perform leak testing, nitrogen pressure testing, vacuuming, and refrigerant charging to ensure system integrity
  • Conduct basic electrical checks including continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, and current measurements
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics to support troubleshooting and repairs
  • Prepare tools, instruments, and service reports accurately to support job completion and documentation
  • Follow safe working practices onboard vessels, including safe procedures when working near live electrical panels and running machinery

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Minimum Nitec, Higher Nitec, or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Marine, Facility Technology, or Air-Con & Refrigeration, or currently pursuing one
  • Comfortable using handheld measuring instruments and recording data carefully. Accurate readings matter more than speed
  • Basic computer skills for entering and organising measurement data
  • Able to handle physical work such as lifting, climbing, and working in engine rooms, at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by vessel jobs
  • Willingness to travel overseas on short assignments (typically a few days to two weeks) to attend vessels in port or anchorage
  • Possession of a Class 3 driving licence is a plus

Other Information

  • Internship duration: 6 months, full-time
  • Location: Singapore office at Kelantan Lane work primarily onboard vessels at Singapore ports, anchorages, and shipyards, with occasional overseas assignments
  • Training allowance: $1,000 per month
  • Structured on-the-job training with experienced marine engineers in vibration analysis, thermography, and marine HVAC
  • Hands-on experience with professional vibration analysers and thermal imaging cameras
  • Opportunity for full-time Technician position upon successful completion
  • Occasional overseas trips to attend vessels in port or at shipyards or anchorage short trips, flying in and out
