Role Summary
The Manufacturing Technician supports day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production execution in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on executing production plans, monitoring process performance, supporting equipment and material readiness, and escalating issues that impact safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, and cross-functional partners, the Manufacturing Technician plays a critical role in achieving production targets, maintaining operational discipline, and driving continuous improvement at the shop-floor level.
Key Responsibilities
1) Safety & Quality Compliance
Adhere strictly to safety policies, quality systems, and cleanroom protocols.
Perform work area inspections and follow safe work practices to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure products are handled, processed, and documented in compliance with quality and 6S requirements.
Support containment actions and follow-up activities when deviations are identified.
2) Production Execution & Operations Support
Execute daily production activities according to established production plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
Monitor production flow, cycle time, and work-in-progress (WIP) to support on-time delivery (OTD) and output targets.
Perform routine checks to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are ready for production use.
Identify and escalate production issues (e.g., delays, abnormal trends, bottlenecks) to engineers or shift leads in a timely manner.
Operate multiple machines in a highly automated cleanroom environment to meet shift targets.
3) Equipment & Process Monitoring
Support basic equipment operations, changeovers, and checks in accordance with defined procedures.
Monitor process parameters and equipment status to ensure stable manufacturing conditions.
Assist in troubleshooting minor process or equipment issues and support engineers during deeper investigations.
Record and report abnormalities, deviations, and observations accurately to ensure traceability.
4) Continuous Improvement & Team Support
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, cycle time, quality, and operational efficiency.
Provide feedback and ideas to improve processes, workflows, and SOP.
Support data collection and basic analysis activities to assist engineers in performance tracking and improvement projects.
Foster a collaborative and disciplined team environment across shifts.
Requirements:
Higher Nitec / Diploma in Engineering or Applied Sciences (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Materials, or related disciplines).
Able to work 12-hour shifts, including night shifts.
Basic familiarity and understanding of manufacturing processes and high volume manufacturing or production environments.
Ability to follow structured work instructions and procedures.
Ability to use computer-based systems and applications to perform daily tasking, data entry and reporting.
Willingness to learn manufacturing systems, tools, and equipment.
Clear verbal and written communication skills (in English) for reporting issues and handovers.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Prior experience in semiconductor manufacturing or high-volume production environments is preferred.
Performs current Production Operator responsibilities and duties within a Fab organization as well as outlined technical tasks. Technical tasks will vary from area to area and may include monitoring and responding to SPC charts, responding to failed tool quals, processing engineering targets, SWRs and other tests, monitoring and collecting data, dispositioning lots, troubleshooting tool errors and recovery and other similar responsibilities.
