Objectives of the Position
According to the agreed strategies and ramp-up plan of the new production facility, the business development manager steers countries in Asia in realizing the sort and mid-term business strategic objectives and achievement of market shares, sales turnover and profitability. In addition, the business development manager will coordinate the global virtual team of business developers.
Main Tasks
Acquire new customers and grow share in existing customers
- Lead country- and customer-specific price and volume negotiations, especially in China, Japan and ASEAN
- Identify target customers per country across various segment such as flavor & fragrance, oral care, mint blender
- Enter market segments like confectionery and pharma
- Key contact for distribution partners and steer them according to defined performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Support sales team and regional key account team
- Decision competency on country / customer volume allocation based on profitability analysis
Execute regional product positioning for menthol
- Lead country- and customer-specific definition of target price levels
- Provide guidance to regional / local sales force in pricing execution and support pricing and negotiation activities of sales team
- Monitor implementation of defined prices levels on region / country and customer level
- Monitor margin development on the regional level
- Decision competency on country and customer target prices
Execute regional portfolio management
- Support portfolio management for menthol through sharing of insights and implementation of regional and global guidelines
Support new business development
- Lead regional new business development activities through execution, customer visits and coordination support with Application Experts, Segment Marketing, Global Product Management and Global Application Technology
- Provide expertise to create a mint platform and potential future derivatives
- Provide information on potential partnerships and contribute through day-to-day operative activities
Identify regional business and competitor intelligence
- Lead collection of market and competitor intelligence used for product positioning (e.g. price levels)
- Share market and competitor intelligence within global segment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, commercial or other related fields
- More than 6 years of sales and marketing experience in the application of menthol in food, personal care or flavor market
- Good to have menthol application knowledge and strong business acumen.
