Manager, PACS and Radiology Informatics

We are seeking an experienced and innovative professional to lead the setup and implementation of Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and related clinical systems for our new radiology department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing the entire radiology informatics infrastructure from the ground up. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of radiology workflows and emerging technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of the entire radiology informatics infrastructure.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for implementation of PACS, NGEMR, and other interfacing clinical systems with Synapxe team.
  • Liaise with architects and facilities management to ensure optimal space allocation, technical requirements are aligned with IT security policies and established standards for the new department.
  • Evaluate, procure, and implement a state-of-the-art PACS system.
  • Ensure seamless integration of PACS with other hospital information systems (NGEMR, Billing systems etc).
  • Engage with key stakeholders to design efficient radiology IT workflows, NGEMR and PACS configurations to meet the specific needs of the new department integrating best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Establish comprehensive protocols for routine system maintenance, quality control and assurance, strategic upgrades, and efficient troubleshooting procedures.
  • Develop disaster recovery scenarios and business continuity plans in the face of potential disruption.
  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of PACS administrators and support staff.
  • Develop job descriptions, assign roles, and establish performance metrics for team members.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all aspects of the radiology informatics setup project.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets by coordinating with various stakeholders, including vendors, IT departments, and hospital administration.
  • Design comprehensive training programs for all end-users on new PACS and related systems.
  • Develop user manuals, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Plan for ongoing education and skill development for staff.
  • Research and propose cutting-edge technologies for the new department (e.g., AI-assisted imaging, cloud-based solutions).
  • Develop a roadmap for future technology adoption and department growth.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, computer science, business or related fieldor a related field.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment, quick thinker and an effective problem solver. Calm, decisive, and resilient in high-pressure situations.
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritise workload, be well organised and multi-task in a smart and timely fashion.
  • Possess strong analytical, communication, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in a team and across teams with minimal supervision.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationship at various levels.
  • Proactive attitude and determination to ensure required outcomes are achieved and takes responsibility.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and nurture the team to meet institutional goals.
  • Tech-savvy with an ability to learn new software and other relevant programs
